NVME on x210
NVME on x210
Got my x210 yesterday and while it's not perfect I'm pretty stoked.
But I do have a stupid question.... Where is the NVME slot and how do I get access to it???
I unscrewed every screw labeled with the case and keyboard labels. And the keyboard came up. But I couldn't get the case open to see the bottom of the motherboard.
There was no nvme slot on the top of the motherboard under the keyboard -- though there were a few things I'm curious about. There's a single dip switch -- what does it do? And there's a sim slot -- is there a 3g modem?
Also anyone know of the wifi is on the motherboard or on a m2 card? Is it possible to change from the Broadcom card with no open drivers to a better supported card?

Re: NVME on x210
The NVMe slot is under the palm rest - you need to remove all the screws with the card logo on them, and then it's clipped in at the sides and along the front of the laptop. The X201 maintenance manual should show you how to do it. There's no 3G modem on board, but the mini-PCIe slot that you can see under the keyboard can be used for a WWAN card. The WiFi card is in a separate slot under the palm rest, and is mini-PCIe. You can swap it out with anything else, there's no firmware locking. The dip switch is to switch between LVDS and eDP video output.
Re: NVME on x210
Thanks. Turns out I was just not using enough force to remove the palm rest.
I have installed the nvme storage. And a second wifi card in the slot visible under the keyboard. But the second wifi card is not appearing in lspci, nor lsusb.
Is the motherboard limited to two of the three slots? So having the nvme storage means only one of the two minipcie m2 slots can be active?

Re: NVME on x210
The second PCIe slot has only SATA (untested by me) and USB lines (and SIM card lines too). You may use it for m-SATA ssd or 3(4)G modem.
And it looks like your wifi does not have bluetoth chip and is using PCIe lines only.
