x210 fan control - porting from x62-fancontrol possible?

#1 Post by mifritscher » Mon Nov 25, 2019 5:54 pm

Hi,

I've gathered following information:
* x62-fancontrol: https://github.com/bitonic/x62-fancontrol . I presumly need to change the pci-product-id (0x9cc3) to 0x9d4e to match the device 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation Intel(R) 100 Series Chipset Family LPC Controller/eSPI Controller - 9D4E (rev 21)
* cat /proc/ioports | grep EC
0062-0062 : EC data
0066-0066 : EC cmd
(the same as on a x62)
* viewtopic.php?p=833443#p833443
Write desired fan PWM value to PMC1 reg 0x51
Then immediately write 0xff to PMC1 reg 0x56 - this should reset fan control timeout.

If I understand it correctly, the communication to the EC of the x62 and of the x210 is quite different?
Is it possible to adapt x62-fancontrol so that it can be used on the x210 as well? This approach would not need a changed EC or kernel patches, which would ease its usage.
