X210 optimal BIOS settings

#1 Post by L29Ah » Wed Dec 25, 2019 5:35 am

The default BIOS settings are really messed up on X210 (viewtopic.php?f=80&t=125573&start=90#p840315)
Here's what i figured to be more sensible:

Enable EFI boot (faster and sometimes more convenient than legacy BIOS boot):
If you don't need to use BIOS boot: Advanced → CSM Configuration → CSM Support: Disabled
If you do: Advanced → CSM Configuration → Boot option filter: UEFI and legacy

Enable ASPM on all ports (PCIe power saving): (viewtopic.php?f=80&t=128267&start=60#p837423)
Chipset → PCH-IO Configuration → PCI Express Configuration:
  • For every PCI Express Root Port: ASPM: L0sL1; L1 Substates: L1.1 & L1.2
Increase the max memory allocated by GPU (doesn't affect memory consumption when GPU is not in heavy use): Chipset → System Agent (SA) Configuration → Graphics Configuration → Aperture Size: 2048MB

Please post anything else that you find useful.
51nb X210 with community EC mod, me_cleaner and recelled 99W*h battery; X230 with coreboot, me_cleaner and nitrocaster's FHD mod as a backup; R500 for guests; T60 just for the looks.

this is great. thank you. I will give this a try. Just received the 3rd batch X210 i5-8250u.

I am having some issues with power down and power up to boot. the X210 turns off 2 times, then on 3rd try, It does boot into Windows 10. not sure what the issue is.
