New x2100 user- updating bios first time
New x2100 user- updating bios first time
Hihi,
I just got an x2100 from Jacky. I'm completely a noob when it comes to updating the bios, I'm not even sure how to check my current bios' version. I'm pretty convinced my current bios is the factory version (my bios has never been updated).
I'm currently using Manjaro Linux (I'm also a linux noob). I'm forcing myself to use linux because I want to learn therefore I didn't install Windows on this system.
Do I need to upgrade the bios in a specific order? I checked this link: https://www.xyte.ch/support/51nb-x210-x ... 0-bios-ec/ and there seems to be several updates (from V15 all the way to Aug 6 2021). If my current bios is the factory version, can i update directly to the Aug 6th 2021 update or I have to update all the packages chronologically (ie from V15 to V25 to Aug 6th 2021)?
Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Re: New x2100 user- updating bios first time
You can update directly to any BIOS. Just read the instructions. Don't flash EC and BIOS at once, do it separately as is recommended in the instructions.bigzbling wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 12:26 pmHihi,

Linux instructions:
Download the latest BIOS update file as linked above.
Run sudo bash bios_update.sh to flash the BIOS first.
Shutdown, remove power and wait 1min before turning it on.
Run sudo bash ec_update.sh to flash the EC next.
Shutdown, remove power and wait 1min before turning it on.

Thanks!
On the github page, it says:
Risk free way (Linux, easy)
Set iomem=relaxed in grub config.
How do I do this on manjaro? Do I just edit the /etc/default/grub file and update:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="iomem=relaxed quiet"

Re: New x2100 user- updating bios first time
You most likey need to update grub config after that with something like update-grub command.
You can verify by cat /proc/cmdline after reboot.

Re: New x2100 user- updating bios first time
I somehow nuked my bios. I sent my laptop back to Jacky (51nb) to get the whole system fixed.
