Thing has now been with depot for a week, no updates. Going to give them a call tomorrow, P52 is really struggling with some of my CAD work right now (and I've just about filled both my SSDs and would rather not go through the hassle of upgrading the drives on my backup machine).

Something went wrong on the fan of my P1. Sounded like mechanical interference. Required new system board. System board lead time was 6+ weeks so they sent me a brand new machine.....I have premiere onsite support.
FWIW this machine feels way better built. No creeks when picking it up and the hinge is significantly sitiffer.

Sleep used to work on this P1Gen3 Win10 machine but doesn't now. I've been living with the wake from hibernation, which is pretty quick. My other P1, a Gen1, still has Sleep working OK (also Win10). However, that machine for whatever reason isn't able to properly function with USB drives, i.e. sees them but cannot access data from them or write to them. When I try to assign a drive letter in Disk Management I get this well known response:H-Atkinson wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 2:22 pmHave my system all set up now, and glad to say this one is not defective. The 12800H and A4500 are pretty obscenely fast, especially for a laptop this small, and shockingly it doesn't cook to death either. Sitting at ~85C on both under a max combined synthetic load. All of this is working fine under W10, and the battery life is notably better than my P52 when using it for light tasks. Obviously under load they both suck back 90 watt hours in no time. Only real complaint I have right now is S0 sleep, which has sucked on every system I've owned with it, but it wakes from hibernate so fast that I just use it instead of sleep.
The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up-to-date. Refresh the view by using the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer.
[OK]
Nothing I have tried has fixed the problem. Since I have a NAS on my network, I have workarounds so haven't persisted (YET) in seeking a fix.
I figure to fix the 2 P1's I may try/have-to reinstall Windows. I figure I'll continue to resist MS's efforts to get me to "upgrade" to Win11 unless and until I encounter a reason to do so. I haven't so far.
The machines are modest: 1TB main SSDs, 500MB secondary SSDs, 32GB RAM (I did the upgrades myself saving money).
