P50 w/ 2x nvme wd 850x 2tb gen4 boot problem

on P50 after replaced the nvme 512gb with 2 wd 850x 2tb cannot boot directly
Plenty of ram
BIOS 1.46
Linux os

I was wandering if there is an bios incompatibility

I purchased a used P50 with Windows on it - I needed to make a new MBR and reinstall linux before it would boot. Might help someone.
