external hard drive using P50 usb-c port

I've been using a Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0 to backup my P50 internal hard drives while traveling. It works fine and I can continue that option. I'm wondering, however, if there is a comparable (and slim) USB-C external hard drive that could take advantage of faster speeds by plugging into the USB-C port on the back of my P50?

I've looked for USB-C external drives, but it is confusing as to whether the drives are really much faster (if any faster) than what I am the Seagate Slim that I am using now.

What experiences (good or bad) have you had in using the USB-C port for backup purposes? And, if so, what external hard drive would you recommend? For example, would a Samsung T5 2TB external hard drive be a big improvement in speed over what I'm using now?
