P71 UEFI-BIOS Change language

#1 Post by Truckertim » Tue Mar 03, 2020 4:39 am

Have just bought a resale P71 from Germany. As expected the BIOS-UEFI is in German. Is there anyway to change this either by flashing the firmware
or through the operating system?
Any ideas much appreciated!

I suggest you make a bootable CD with the BIOS-version you want: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/prod ... s/ds121301
(scroll down for older versions)
During the making of that CD, it may (hopefully) give you an option to select language.
AFAIK there is no (standard) language-change option in IOS itself.
The above might work, because the BIOS is downloaded from the US-English Lenovo website and thus should be in English.

Thank you...I'll give it a go although might not work as the bios firmware utility is 'language independent' :|

The language independence only applies to the OS-language, i.e. you can update the same (English) BIOS on a French/Italian/Russian/Greek/etc. OS.

Another question: do you access BIOS through Windows, or from a full cold boot via F1?
