P50 P70 & Windows 7

#1 Post by olex126 » Mon Aug 24, 2020 10:07 pm

Hi Gang.

Can anyone verify that all P50 & P70 (Xenon & i-7) machines will accept a Windows 7 install, or are there limitations re: machine type, original Windows 10 preload, etc?

Thanks. Regards.

See if this helps: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P ... -p/4551435
Not sure if newer machines still have Slic in BIOS for W7.
But there is a Lenovo Slic-marker tool out there somewhere.
Or use the (unused) product key from a Lenovo/Micro$haft W7-sticker and a matching W7-recovery set.

Thanks for the links RBS, gives me a good starting point!

Also, when I peruse the Lenovo P50/70 software pages, I notice Windows 7 recovery software AND downgrade rights from Win 10 to Win 7, so things are looking up :D .

Slic is part of the BIOS that holds the Operating System licensing information.
