I took off the buttons on my touchpad to clean them, however, I can not for the life of me figure out how to reattach it. Way too many tiny parts and holes. Already tried basically everything and no dice. No, I'm not buying another touchpad--this IS my replacement touchpad. I only need the buttons to be put back in.

It would help if you tell us which exact model Thinkpad you have.
And have you read the HMM-manual for it?
You need to check Lenovo's website for a download.

T16 Gen 1 AMD. And yeah I have read the manual and didn't see anything about the buttons unless I missed something.

I saw a guide on the trackpad itself but nothing on the buttons themselves.

The problem here is that although I can get either the side brackets or the main bracket attached, I can never get both attached at the same time.

My suggestion would be to find a disassembly/replacement video for your model on YouTube and see how they do it. I'm sure there's a special "trick" to it that you just need to know.
