Power Regression issue *Proper Solution!*

There was a patch released a few days ago to solve the power regression issue in the linux kernel. This isn't just a workaround, this is a full blown solution.

I can't explain it as good as these guys:
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=a ... m_solution

I compiled an Ubuntu 3.x kernel myself with the patch, unfortunately my computer is in dispose at the moment (waiting for a part, from a completely unrelated issue) so I can't report much improvement although it seems it wasn't getting as hot (can't confirm this though)

So, fellow thinkpad/linuxers, try it out and report back! I'll give you my results when I can.

It wasn't a regression. It was a fix for systems that violated the ASPM spec.

The "full solution" is more "follow the spec in a way that doesn't hurt broken implementations as much". i.e. a workaround, but of another sort.

Shame on Phoronix for trying to stir up controversy over this and for tarnishing Linux's reputation for their own personal benefit.
