T410 w/ Fedora 18

#1 Post by FunkyRes » Mon Feb 11, 2013 8:03 pm

Acquired a T410.
Fedora 18 installed fine, but there are a few issues.

A) How do I disable the UltraNav trackpad and the two lower buttons?
In my T520 (Windows) there is a control panel.

I do not like the trackpad, my writst hits it. I just want to use the eraser head and the buttons below the spacebar.
I found instructions on how to do it for HAL but HAL is gone from Fedora.

B) It seems the Ctrl button on left side of keyboard does not work. Right side does.

C) The network light (right of disk use light) is constantly flashing. It's bleeping annoying. In my T520 under Windows it is solid all the time. Anyone know why it would be doing that?

-=-
D) Hardware question - the 410 has 4GB of RAM. My T520 has 8GB (T20 is quad core i7). I understand even though Lenovo says 8GB is max for T520 that it can actually support 16GB. If I upgrade the T520 to 16GB can I then use the old chips to upgrade the T410?

Thanks for suggestions.

Disable touchpad in BIOS.

Yes, your RAM (from T520) should be backwards compatible.

That's all I've got.

I was able to disable trackpad in user preference, it's per account basis instead of system-wide but that's good enough.
They Ctrl key - it does seem to be just that key failing, so I wonder if that is actually hardware.

I'll see if it even gives me a code later.
