Puppy Linux with tp_smapi possible?

I've used Puppy linux of and on with several different ThinkPads for several years now, and I think Puppy would be almost ideal for use on the X40 booting from a CF card, but I often use it connected to AC and would really like to have tp_smapi kernel module functioning. Have any of you ThinkPad/Puppy Linux fans be able to get it working? If so, how is it done?

Why not contact Barry Kauler and ask him directly if the forums are no help?

Do post results. You might have to recompile your Puppy but that shouldn't be difficult.

Yeah, I've posted over on the Puppy forums, and the response was pretty much the only way is to custom compile the kernel. I've never done that before, and don't have the time right now to try and learn how, so was hoping someone around here has done it already. A Puppy derivative designed for ThinkPads would be really cool!

Alright! Thanks twistero, for pointing me to the compiler. Maybe after I get my taxes done, sometime in the next couple of weeks, I 'll have the time to try and figure this out.
