TLP Commands

#1 Post by foghorn » Mon Apr 21, 2014 12:24 pm

Can anyone explain to me how the threshold work and re-calibrating works for TLP commands?
I don't need a how-to, but was wondering if there are benefits of setting these functions up.

Does powering off the optical drive save battery power?

Also, are there any tips to go through on TLP?
So far I just installed with the smartmontools, ethtool, tp-smapi-dkms, and acpi-call-tools.

Hardware:
Thinkpad T410s
Stock battery - 34.7Wh/43.3Wh when full.
Regular optical drive in Ultrabay, no battery, no battery ultrabase battery slice
