I just installed ubuntu on my T60 without any hiccups.

So what should I test next besides direct rendering? hibernation comes in mind.

Hibernation should work out of the box. No need to test anything, just go ahead and use it :D

What graphics does it have, Intel or ATI? There are some bugs with the Intel GPU but none exist - to my knowledge - with the ATI.

No bugs to worry about, just temperature and fan noise. But you can install thinkfan

Code: Select all

Package: thinkfan
Priority: extra
Section: universe/misc
Installed-Size: 116
Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers <ubuntu-devel-discuss@lists.ubuntu.com>
Original-Maintainer: Evgeni Golov <evgeni@debian.org>
Architecture: i386
Version: 0.8.1-1
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.4)
Filename: pool/universe/t/thinkfan/thinkfan_0.8.1-1_i386.deb

Description-en: simple and lightweight fan control program
Some hardware has a kind of broken fan-control and lets the fan run
faster than really needed. Thinkfan will prevent this by controlling
the fan on its own (the fan speed for each temperature interval can be
 adjusted in the configuration file).
 .
Originally designed specifically for IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads,
it supports any kind of system via the sysfs hwmon interface.
It is designed to eat as little CPU power as possible.

Why 64 bits? The T60 can address only 3GB max, is it running smoothly?
