Though not currently running Antix, I have in the past done so on my X40. Work very well, and there are some features that I liked very much, others that I don't care for. I will probably use Antix again, but for now, I'm getting by fine without it.

May I ask what distro/os you currently run if you still use your X40?

Sure...I didn't give up on AntiX because of it's not working for me, or because I didn't like it. I had actually spent some time and effort making AntiX function just like I needed it to, and then the CF card I was booting it from died. So, I had to reinstall something, and I chose Linux Mint XFCE because I knew it would do the things right from the get go that I had spent time training AntiX to do. Only changes I made to Mint was removing Network Manager and installing both Ceni and WICD (like AntiX uses). The X40 has been doing it's job as my most used ThinkPad for several weeks since.

FWIW, I run Antix on several old Thinkpads, a 600, a 560Z and a 390X. It has become my default choice for my old computers, and it runs fine on CPUs as slow as PII 266MHz and as little as 192MB RAM. And one one of them it boots from a CF card, like Neil's unit does. I'm not sure if experienced users with high demands would be satisfied with Antix, but my hardware is obsolete for today's purposes anyway, so Antix has for sure put some new life into my old machines.
