the choices are mind boggling
I started with Mandrake a long time ago, tried Red Hat (before it became Fedora), then Ubuntu Dapper Drake (6.06 LTS) until Hardy Heron (8.04 LTS), then finally settled to Debian starting from 4.0 Etch, continuing to the present, with 9.0 Stretch. :D
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons

If you are interested in something a little more in the vein of Arch but also a little different, Void is a very nice project. I have been having a good time with it. It starts up very swiftly, even on a 5400RPM drive. Only problem I've had with it is getting a display manager to work. On some laptops, it completely hangs the system. So I just boot to a command line and use startx. I can't get my tablets to work though, I will have to figure that out this weekend.
