Hi linuxpad`ers , im having an issue with x220 intels wifi card on linux ( arch ) ive checked arch wiki for thinkpad and followed instructions how to disable n for my wifi , but still it does not help ... and its hard to get any signal. i was booting from live usb few distros and it takes ages to connect but when it does - it looses signal within 15-30 min. so now im in the pursuit of discovery of what the heck is going on . Is it antena? wires ? or actual wifi card is on the last leg ?

How's the wifi signal strength?

Yes signal strength might pose a problem, especially - from my experience - with those networks requiring funky encryption. For example eduroam-type networks, popular in universites around Europe, is WPA-EAP/MSCHAPV2 ecrypted, and whenever signal strength falls below 50% (-70dBm maybe) in disconnects saying that it cannot authenticate.
That's not to say your wifi card is immortal, though I've never seen any of them (in x220) needing replacement. Maybe an external wifi dongle would be a good tester.

im in uk and using bt hotspots no WPA/WPA2/WEP ( no broadband provider atm) so signal jumps and its bad when windy or rainy...and signal usually below 50% , but t230 with this same card holds signal a bit better and longer but still disconnects ...and allways disconnetcs when i change the room .
