Frankenpad ddr2 800mhz appearing as 677mhz

#1 Post by alisan » Sun May 14, 2017 7:44 am

I have Frankenpad 601 that has 2x4g ddr2 800mhz ram, however under Linux
lshw -short -C memory
is showing
/0/2b/0 memory 4GiB SODIMM DDR2 Synchronous 667 MHz (1.5 ns)
/0/2b/1 memory 4GiB SODIMM DDR2 Synchronous 667 MHz (1.5 ns)
I know that this might not be that important, but just wondering if the RAM have wrong sticker or a bios limitation or the limitation of the PM965 chip?

Its probably a pm965 limitation. I doubt it makes a significant difference in speed. It's not like a TP755C where 70 vs 60ns ram was a significant.

Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

The memory controller on the Intel 965 Mobile chipset is limited to DDR 667 speed.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
