X40 + Intel 2200BG wireless.. how do I turn it on?

Hi,

I've got so far as installing the ipw2200 drivers (version 1.0.0), I got around that obstacle ok. Now, I've loaded it up as a module and it's all detected. When I run 'ifconfig' I get two network interfaces, which is all well and good, but now I am stuck!

How do I actually turn on the wireless connection because right now, it doesn't have an IP address (which I would like to set statically) and the wireless led isn't on. Pushing Fn-F5 results in turning the bluetooth on and off (another thing which I'd like to install, but haven't much of an idea where to begin right now).

Also, once I've turned the wireless on, I'd like to use WPA-PSK (TKIP), how would I go about this, I think that version 1.0.0 of this driver has WPA support built in, but I can't find much of a mention of it anywhere?

Thanks

You don't turn it on, driver will do that for you. It doesn't have the ip address possibly because you don't give it enough settings, key, etc. If you would like to set that statically you can do that with iwconfig or (to have it permanently) in configuration files, which are different for diff distros.
