ATI & Suspend

Hi,

I use suse 9.3 on my T43p. Everything works fine out-of-the-box except Ati drivers. But when I installed the latest ati drivers, suspend on disk and ram caused system freeze. Apparently it can suspend but cannot awaken.

It seems to be a problem with ATI drivers and suspend feature. Is there anyone who succeded to run them both?

Thanx

hi mate,
i have recently become more active in learning / using linux... I found out that the suspend function just does not work with the binary ati drivers. If you do want the suspend working, you need to use the open source drivers (which do not have 3d support). I think the current ati drivers are 8.16.13 or something, and suspending does not work with these yet.

You either have no 3d performance with the OS drivers but suspend works, or good 3d perf with the ATI binary drivers and no suspend functions. This goes for whatever linux you use, ubuntu, fedora, suse etc

I haven't had time to experiment with it personally, but there is some info on suspend and fglrx drivers on thinkwiki:

Thanks for aswers...

I think the best think to do is to wait the new drivers. May be ATI will fix this problem

I hate to bring up a dead post, but I've heard that the latest ATI Driver fixes the suspend issue.

I have suspend and resume working with fglrx drivers on Ubuntu. Read my posts towards the bottom of this topic: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=16839
