I've just installed suse 9.3 in my R31 and the pointer will go bonkers, fly around the screen and open whatever it wants in the toolbar! Pretty frequently too. I did a littleresearch and found out I need to be able to reduce the sensetivity on the trackpointer. There was one fix, but I was not able to install it. Does anyone have any other ideas? Would the problem persist on other distros?
Thanks,
Brillig

Re: TrackPoint gone Mad!!!
Assuming that you're talking X11 (gnome or kde), this could be caused by a slightly incompatible protocol being used for the pointer. My system uses the mouse daemon, so I'm not in a position to give concrete suggestions, but ThinkWiki suggests the PS/2 driver (as opposed to the IMPS/2 driver). Change the <DriverName> for the Option "Protocol" "<DriverName>" line in /etc/X11/xorg.conf and see if that works.Brillig wrote:... the pointer will go bonkers, fly around the screen and open whatever it wants in the toolbar!

crazy mouse
Hi,
It seems that I have the same problem as you : my mouse is always opening whatever she is on and it is very annoying. I'm using a usb mouse and when I unplug it, it continues with the track point. I've realised that it was often when I was on msn that this was occuring, but i find it strange that there would be a link between those 2.
It seems that you were using linux, i'm unfortunately using windows xp, so do you think i would have the same problem as you ? And how should i fix it then ?
thanks for your answer,
Anne
