T43 wireless not working on openSuse

#1 Post by netguardianii » Tue Oct 18, 2005 7:47 pm

I have a T43 with openSUSE 10.0 installed. Although the OS detects my wireless card, it doesn't seem to be able to activate it (turn it on, at least). Can anyone give me pointers to installing ipw2200?

Thanks.

only a wild guess:
maybe you should check the logs if you have problems with loading the cards firmware, since the IPW-Cards need to load their firmware at every start into its internal RAM.
now mine: T42 2373-VMH - 1.5 GB RAM, 60 GB HDD, BT, WLAN, SXGA, 9cell

Get the firmware from http://ipw2200.sf.net. I don't think that SuSE ships with the firmware. Thats probably the error that you would have seen if you had looked into /var/log/messages.

you must mean OpenSuSE...

I'm 99% sure that normal retail SuSE includes all the propriatary drivers available. The suse 9.3 pro install even detected/installed my winmodem.
