Very *slow* suspend when battery powered (X40,T43)

#1 Post by PaulOrtyl » Tue Dec 13, 2005 11:22 am

Hi,

I have a problem with suspending my Thinkpads (X40, T43) when they run on batteries (actually the only situation, when the suspend is really useful). It takes more than 10 minutes to write the image to the swap partition.

I am using Linux always latest official vanilla linux sources for building the kernel. I know, that at the beginning of 2.6.x series it worked properly, but I have no idea when it got broken. I have tried already all cpufreq/ACPI/BIOS settings, but could not get normal speed of suspending in repeatable way.

Does anybody have any idea what exactly causes this slow down and what can be done about it? (Turning the power management completety off is not an option!)

Paul
