A21m - Debian Etch -Kernel 2.6.14-2 and no PCMCIA

This has been a bit of a nightmare - Just reinstalled Debian on my a21m, which with an older kernel worked great. Everything now works, sound, acpi, IBM extras, eth0 (not the 3com modem, but I'll get to that in time)

What doesn't work is my PCMCIA slots. They are not getting power and the whole PCMCIA thing does not seem to be set up at all. I know that is a bit vague, but I have tried everything I can think of over the past two weeks, and not even one little light on the card inserted was seen. I am using the new PCMCIA. utils and UDEV. (PCMCIA.CS and hotplug don't work either). I am at a total loss as to how to approach/fix this problem. The PCMCIA.Utils web page is worse than useless, and really doesn't help at all.

If anyone has had this problem and knows of a fix I would be very grateful. If more info is needed, I'll willing to supply any print out needed. (I don't believe in bunging pages of print outs in the first post). Even directions to where I may be able to find help I would be grateful for :(
