Can't Get Linux on my r40?

Hi All, Here is my dilemma!

About a year ago I purchased Suse 9.2 becasue I loved 8.0 on my old desktop(RIP) so I decided to install it on my Thinkpad, and after I Installed it the Grub loader started and my screen went black and the screen said Grub Loader Error, well I researched into this and it seems some IBM D security thing disallowed another boot prgram, so now I couldn't get to Linux nor Windows,

. After paintstaking hours with IBM on the phone I finally reinstalled Windows, but I still want to put Linux 10.0 on is there any way to do this without the previous error?

Here is what I did. If you can get your hands in Partition Magic then you can make an Ext3 partition after your NTFS/WinXP partition also make a swap partiton. I made the Ext3 Primary and the swap logical.

Then I installed Ubuntu into the Ext3 partition and made sure to specify that the partition should be used as root filesystem (otherwise the installation would not continue).

I have always used the Ubuntu CD to partition my linux disk with, but for some reason this does not work correct on my T40/p so I now use this method with Partition Magic.

The Ubuntu installer formats the swap partition before installing. This lead to an error when I use partition magic afterwards in winXP. To solve this I just deleted the swap partition from winXP and made a new one using Partition Magic. This might seem wierd but for some reason I will get errors if I do not make all partitions with Partition magic.

During this whole procedure I had Predesktop Area set to secure in BIOS.

I have seen the boxed CDs at staples, office max, etc. or here is a free trial that may get you through your current situation:

I have used partition commander with great results too, it will format linux partitions also.
