T43 + wireless setup + FC5: how?

I installed FC5 on T43.

I don't have a lot of experience in setting up wireless connections on Linux.

But the network configuration shows the Intel 2915 wireless device, so that means it's aware it's there.

Do I need to make a custom kernel to give support to wireless/this particular wifi adaptor?

is there a setup program I need to install for configuring wifi.

Just give me a hint.

Thanks.

Well, just because it says IPW2915 means nothing good sir. Maybe try posting your hardware or machine type in your sig.

the ipw2915 has linux support via firmware that you can download via binary, or install from firmware intel provides.

I recommend getting a different wireless card for linux, cisco aironet, ipw2200, atheros, or something linux compatible. Good luck.

If you have Intel 2915ABG, then it's supported by the ipw2200 project. There should be native support in the newer kernels too which I assume FC5 would be running.

You should just be able to set it up with ipconfig and also iwconfig, or alternatively, find a FC5 tool to do it.

2915ABG works on ubuntu 5.10 out of the box so I can't say I've had to configure those settings by hand.
