Run Slax

#1 Post by inkpad » Mon May 22, 2006 8:19 am

I have a Thinkpad 600 and have been messing with Slax http://slax.linux-live.org/ for a few months now. Its a bit slow cos of my memory but after experimenting with others have found this the best Linux distro out there. You can run the live cd or install slax. I have a 3 GB drive half XP and half Slax. Its brought a slow laptop back to life, give it a go....

Note that you can also boot it off a USB stick; it doesn't take long to make the USB bootable either, just get your favorite Slax distro and then use MySlax to put it on the USB stick. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

In the search for a live boot cd that works with my wireless card (In a post on these forums) I tried a few different live boot cds. The latest one was Slax, (didn't recognze card, trying Kanotix) But Slax was running really slow... the mouse was nearly unusable, so far the best for me, excluding the little card problem was "DSL" or [censored] Small Linux. But this is after only a short time of use I just may have to configure Slax.
