t43p - suse - suspend

#1 Post by magneto » Wed May 31, 2006 6:35 am

Hi,

I've just installed suse 10.1 to my t43p. Everything works out of the box except wireless but that's not the problem.

After installing ATI drivers, I had 3D acceleration but when I suspend-to-RAM the laptop, it does not come back. It stuck with some colors on the screen. Does anyone have the same problem? I wonder if the problem comes from a conflict between 2.16 kernel and ati drivers...

Thanks for any help.

SOLUTION:

Well as the wise one would say "one must do a little research before posting questions" :-)

That's what I found and solved the problem (from thinkwiki) :

In OpenSUSE 10.1 (at least on a T43p), it's necessary to override the default options for s2ram if you're using the newer ATI driver. This can be done putting SUSPEND2RAM_FORCE="yes" and SUSPEND2RAM_ACPI_SLEEP="3" in /etc/powersave/sleep.
