Follow up: Lenovo denies ditching Linux

"There has really been no change in the support and commitment to the Linux community and to our customers and business partners," Marc Godin, vice president of marketing for Lenovo's notebooks, told CNET News.com.

Plus another interesting quote:

Lenovo actually plans to support Linux on its ThinkPads starting in the third quarter, in partnership with Novell, Godin said. Customers of the recently introduced Lenovo 3000 units still won't have a preloaded option, however, because the small and midsize business customers that are the targets for those units have many different requirements, he said.

It just seems like some sort of move to keep Microsoft where it is on its stance about how the maker should support its OS and not let them get any further; I posted about this in the other thread having to do with this.

In addition, it could be like Lenovo saying that they will still "recommend" Vista when Microsoft finally comes out with it and not get scared and drop all support for it. I think that is what Microsoft would be worried about at this point; not so much increasing gains by other OSes but by a loss of such a position for their line of Windows operating systems in the face of multi-OS support in the machines and the manufacturer.
