Hello,

I am French, and I have an IBM Thinkpad T43p, 14 " (1400x1050).

I am under Linux UBUNTU 6.06, and I would like to install the reader of fingerprint, APS (active protection systeme), and to also be able to configure the various buttons (volume, IBM access).

If you have easy ways for this splendid Laptop, made benefit from it!

Thank you in advance for you invaluable help!

Bye,

Antoine.

Thank you for your answer, but I did not find a solution adapted to UBUNTU on this site!

toinou75009:

Even though ThinkWiki may not have exact instructions for Ubuntu, the instructions for other Linux distributions will be mostly correct.

Ubuntu supports most Thinkpad functions as-is. To configure the various buttons, install the package "tpb" (ThinkPad Buttons).

Hello,

I carried out some research, and the APS is not yet available under linux.

If not I tried to follow the "how-to" fingerprint reader, and I did not succeed in doing it. If somebody with successful, thank you to make profited the community of it.

Thank you in advance!

Yes it is; http://hdaps.sourceforge.net/

It is also available on every kernel since 2.6.14.

There are also a bunch of headparking, visualization, and other scripts available for it as well.
