I'm sorry, but the opprotunity to grab attention was just to good to ignore!
NOTE: I'm not asking for Warez, but instead, Open Source software, or in this case, Linux. Yes, it's legal.
I just snagged a Thinkpad X40, but I'm a total linux n00b. I'd be willing to pay a few bucks for a CD with a disk image of Mepis configured so that ACPI and the rest will work on the Thinkpad.
Yes, this is entirely legal - in fact, it's encouraged.

Have you tried downloading it yourself? There are several sites that will allow you to download the Linux distros.
My favorites are:
Linuxiso <<down due to hardware failure>>
distrowatch
Or you can
downloaddirectly from here

Actually, if you are new to Linux, recognize that it takes some time to learn. When I was learning I paid for boxed sets with support so that I could call the vendor and get assistance. It worked well with me for RedHat, SuSE and to a lesser extent, Gentoo. By now, I can download and roll my own with just Internet support. I do recommend getting a support package. ... JD Hurst

Eh. I can bribe people locally with doughnuts. Much cheaper.
My problem is not with installing the software, but in getting it to support my wireless card and power manangement, something that often requires third-party programs to work.

You're probbably right. However, I recognize that it's a bit much to ask people to give me an optimized disk image.
Hence, I offered to pay for it.
