hi
i'm thinking of changing to linux with my t60 but i'm not sure which distro i should use...
i've got some experiences with the suse but i'm not that sure... you may help me out. besides the usual office works, i would like to be able to use a multi desktop, bcs i'm used to work on multiple screens and then i could use the singular screens for each application... next is that i would like to use my mp3's from itunes so is there any posibility to use them aswell (asking bcs of the apple format) and then i wanna also be able to watch some divx stuff when i'm on travel,... so what would you prefer me?change or wait till winVista is out...
thanks for the replies

I'm not sure if there really is a best distribution for the T60, my preferred distributions has always been Fedora Core and Ubuntu (currently I prefer Ubuntu over Fedora Core.)

In terms of what works, everything that I need has worked out of the box with Ubuntu, here is a list of the things I have working (Others may or probably do, I just haven't used them):

- Bluetooth
- Intel Pro Wireless
- Sound
- ATI Radeon x1300

I have the T60-2623D6U, with Ubuntu Edgy 6.10 loaded.

I've heard that the fingerprint reader and hotswapping of the ultra-bay works too although I have no idea if it works by default or if there are any packages for them in Ubuntu (the ultra-bay is a recent addition, apparently insertion detection was working before.)

In terms of iTunes, and Divx, I know that Linux will support the Divx (and other formats) of movies and a lot of audio formats. I've never used iTunes so I have no idea whether Linux has a media player for it. Chances are though, I would guess that you would be able to play them in Ubuntu if you can play them in Linux.

SLED 10/KDE is the official version for IBM T60p. It works well with my X60s.
