Which distro for TP 365XD?

#1 Post by nooneyouknow » Thu Jan 25, 2007 10:53 am

Any thoughts?
Can't boot from CD drive on this one .
2 GB HD, 72 Meg RAM, 120MHZ Pentium.
Any ideas will help. I'm trying to make this thing useful again.

Installing Debian with floppies:

I should warn you though that the directions on the how-to page tell you to wipe the drive, so make sure that you have everything off of it that you need. I haven't tried this myself yet, but I have an old Pentium Toshiba that I've been trying to find a use for . . .

a debian net install can be done from 3 floppies. Our 760e was about the same speed as your machine; it ran debian 3.1 just fine (including X: but not either KDE or Gnome:-)
the way up and the way down are the same (heraclitus)

I agree with tom lightbody. K or Gnome would be too much, though I'm sure Fluxbox or IceWM wouldn't pose any problems (you could try XFCE, too.)
