i'm making my way through a list of distros. i've tried ubuntu in its various guises, knoppix, and most recently, dreamlinux.
next on the list is SUSE (Linux Enterprise Desktop). we have access to a full edition at school and from what i've read it seems like it will allow me to do all the things i want to do.
anything special in terms of running SUSE on a T43?
TIA

Got a T42 with openSUSE 10.2. Everything runs perfect out of the box, except for 3d video. But just install drivers direct from ATI, and 3d works fine. Hibernate and suspend worked before I installed the video drivers, and now they don't, but I believe it's a common problem, but if anyone knows a fix...

Personal experience has shown me that you are likely to encounter the typical rpm hell sooner or later if you have suse, red hat, mandrake or feodora. Three years of rpm hell have made me a convert and now I live happily ever after with the debian package management system...
As for Suse, I found it rather slow but stable enough. Support and community is ok although suse pages can be cryptic at times. Nothing as user friendly as Ubuntu in my experience... But each to their own

Have fun.
