This came up in the T4x forum, but I thought I should raise the question here. I hope I'm not guilty of cross-posting.
My T43's ATI Radeon X300 graphics chip has 64Mb onboard, but the driver, at least in Windows, is supposed to support HyperMemory. I'm guessing that's a RAM sharing scheme; at any rate, it's supposed to permit the chip to access 256Mb of video RAM, at least virtually.
In Windows, this is indeed the case. Windows' Display Properties shows the X300 as having 256Mb RAM. There's no indication in Display Properties that this isn't "real" video RAM, so ATI must do a pretty good job of fooling Windows.
My questions: In Linux, how can I see if ATI HyperMemory is working, and how can I see how much "hypermemory" the OS thinks the graphics chip has?
