No Ubuntu 7.04 sound on x60s? try this

#1 Post by bonmot » Sun Apr 15, 2007 6:51 am

I had trouble getting my sound to work on a new installation of Ubuntu 7.04 (beta). The sound hardware wasn't being recognized by Alsa.

I read this thread: http://www.nabble.com/sound-weirdness-w ... 04697.html which suggested that the modem was involved somehow. Since I hope to never use my modem again, I turned it off in the thinkpad bios. Once I enabled the modem and pressed one of the dedicated sound buttons in Ubuntu, it worked. Just thought I'd share my experience.

Thanks for sharing.

I tried Ubuntu 7.04 (Herd 3) shortly after it was first released two month ago. It had way too many problems that time. Anyways, I am hoping to get the final version that is expected to be released sometime by the end of this month.
