Installed Fiesty, Now What?

#1 Post by absolut 0 » Sat May 12, 2007 8:17 pm

Hello,

I just set up my computer for a dual boot XP/Kubuntu 7.04 and things are running smoothly.

Now what? This is my first time playing with linux. Do I need to run updates? Are there any essential programs/updates that I need to take care of?

Thanks for the help!

Update the distro using that update program they include, and make sure all your required codecs (mp3 etc) are working or installed.

You'll need to add some repositories so that Apt knows where to go for "evil" packages.
Model: Lenovo ThinkPad T400
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26 GHz, 1067 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2 Cache)
RAM: 4 GB PC-8500 (1067 MHz, Dual-channel)
HDD: 500 GB, 54000 RPM
Audio: Conexant CX20561 (192 kHz, 24-bit)
Video: Intel GMA 4500MHD
Wireless: Intel 5300
