Hi,
I booted the Ubuntu 7.04 "Feisty" Live CD. After loading through the Ubuntu splash screen, the system eventually drops to text mode with an error that it "failed to start X server". From there I get kicked to a commandline.
This happens on a T60 with 1650x1080 widescreen, ATI x1400. I did some research and it seems this problem likely has to do with the ATI video. There are some workarounds posted, some kind of complicated.
Has anyone here installed Feisty on a T60 wide? Did you need to resort to one of the various command-line workarounds (to modify the x config and/or install ati drivers on the fly), or was there an easier approach?
Thanks in advance.
