dual boot Fedora 7 and XP Pro: what to worry?

T60 Core Duo, Intel 3945abg

1. Will the fingerprint still work at boot time right after BIOS check?
2. My D: (backup drive) is in NTFS, will F7 still see and access it?
3. How to uninstall F7 if something's wrong?

Thanks a lot :)

If you install "thinkfinger" in F7 then the fingerprint reader works. After enrolling you can log in by finger swipe.

Fedora 7 has read-only support for NTFS. There is newer read/write support (NTFS-3G), but thats excluded for patent reasons. So if that is important to you, then you have to install it from 3rd party rpms.

To uninstall I would run fdisk and set the partition type back to NTFS. Then you can format it in Windows, if that is what you want to replace it with. If you want another linux distribution or some kind of BSD etc then you can just run their installer directly.

- Is "thinkfinger" a package came with F7?

- How do I switch back to Windows boot? (fix mbr?)

Thank you for your help.

About thinkfinger, there is a good description on thinkwiki: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_en ... hinkFinger

There are a couple of ways to set up the boot loader, you don't have to put grub into the MBR if you are not sure that you want to keep it, see http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_setup_boot_loaders
