Thinkpad X60s + Linux = processor overheating

Hi there.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X60s laptop and I wanted to install Linux on it. I tried Sabayon Linux (a point 'n'click version of Gentoo) and Ubuntu only to notice my laptop is heating excessively, especially when compared to Windows XP SP2.

After doing some extensive googling I found that the linux kernel is not giving the proper voltage to the processor (X60s has LV version of the Core Duo). One of the solution is to undervolt the processor.

My question is: did anybody undervolt the Low Voltage Core Duo processor in Linux?

The CPU voltages are controlled by a pretty well-established system, unless the hardware manufacturer screwed up linux will do the right thing. I've never heard of a problem there and a quick google search just yields one confused guy on the ubuntu forum.

You are of course free to undervolt the already lower voltages on a LV cpu. Just don't complain if you get unreproducible crashes
