I recently installed slackware 10 on T42. And I upgraded the kernel to 2.6.8.1, almost everything is fine. But if I don't touch the computer for 20 minutes, the screen can not display correctly. Half of the screen will become vague. And if I press a key or move the mouse, everyting is back to norml. I guess it is the kernel try to bring the computer to power save mode and try to shut down the screen but not sucessful. I have installed same system on other laptop like Compaq Evo n800v, no such problem.
Besides, I cannot upgrade system to 2.6.9. If I use it, some program cannot work properly. Like less and man. I guess the glibc shipped with slackware 10 is not compatable with 2.6.9. If I use 2.4.27, the situation is even worse, it can not boot at all.
Has anyone encountered this problem?
problem about using slackware 10 on T42
Re: problem about using slackware 10 on T42
I checked my computer again. I found display problem just appeared in text mode. If I use framebuffer, after 20 minitues idle, no problem for the LCD to become blank to save power.mlli4 wrote:I recently installed slackware 10 on T42. If you have an T42, you may check if your computer has the same problem by booting Linux in
text mode and let it idle for about twenty minutes.
