fglrx newer than 8.34.8 horribly slow

#1 Post by Alexander Heß » Sun Aug 19, 2007 8:18 pm

I'm running Ubuntu Feisty Fawn (7.04) on my T60p.
Every fglrx I installed (using Envy) that's newer than the 8.34.8 that comes with Feisty is horribly slow.

I haven't done any benchmarks but the fact that my OpenGL screensaver "flurry" is totally choppy on any of the newer drivers speaks volumes.

Did anyone else notice that, or is it only me?

Are you sure it's even using direct rendering properly? Use 'glxinfo |grep direct' to see.

Direct rendering is enabled. That was one of the first things I checked.
