Rescue and Recovery Partition Boots OK, but doesn't work...

#1 Post by itzcoolz » Sat Aug 25, 2007 8:31 pm

hey y'all.

i'm a noob when it comes to ubuntu, and i've been fiddling around with it. i'm dual booting Vista and Feisty Fawn with GRUB.

I set up GRUB to be able to boot into RnR, and it is able to boot into the Rescue and Recovery Console.

I was hoping to restore my windows partition to a previously made backup using the RnR console, and when I try to do that, everything seems to work ok, but nothing happens (meaning it asks me for the options i want to enable for the recovery process, but then nothing actually happens when i click 'begin').

Any ideas? (could the problem be due to the fact that I increased the size of my Vista partition after the backup was made?)

fyi, i have a z61t (9440-D9U).

Although I can't be sure from your description, this thread may be helpful:

wow... i described my issue really poorly. hopefully people haven't given up on this thread yet.

so my issue is with the rescue and recovery console. vista boots fine, as does ubuntu.

RnR even boots fine, BUT my problem is that when i try to run the recover action in the RnR console, nothing happens. It seems like its working in the sense that it asks me to configure how I want to run the recovery procedure, but then when I click begin it just goes back to the basic RnR screen, and then nothing happens.

does that make more sense?

This is not a thread Hijacking....But I want to answer to the question...

The RnR partition doesn't recognize the space before it, since by installing ubuntu the partition table is a little messed. It would be of help if you describe in detail what happens step by step. I
