Linspire 5.0 on T20

Greetings. I have a T20 which currently has Win2000Pro. I prefer Linux but because of a stroke and other health problems have to use Linspire 5.0 because it's easier to learn. Is this operating system compatable with my T20. Thanks.

Your T20 may have a difficult time running Linspire. Anything under 1Gig processor and 512Mb RAM seems to choke under Linspire, at least in my experience. If you want to try it, I can make you a copy of "live" CD so you can test it out without changing your present OS.

My suggestion would be either a PC Linux OS, or a SuSE...I haven't tested anything after 9.2 on a Pentium 3 machine, but that one (retail version) worked well on my 600x with 650Mhz processor and 320Mb RAM.

All the best.

Thank you much

If you could do that I would greatly appreciate it. I have a lifetime membership from when they were looking for legal funds but a dial up connection which would make downloading off their site pretty tough.

I'll private message my address to you. Thank you again.

Edited: well I just found out there are no private mssg function on here. I have no problem putting my mailing address on here:

I am running PcLinuxOS on my T20 (512M). Worked right out of the box, even recognized the Atheros wireless card. I was concerned about the CPU at first, but has not been a problem so far. Pretty easy to use.

Whizzer, which CPU do you have in your T20? The reason I ask is because PCLOS is one of my favorite distros and I have a T21 (800Mhz 512MB RAM) coming this week. I have plans to install PCLOS on it and I'm just trying to guage performance.

OK, I'm back to continue this discussion. Been gone about 3 weeks due to surprise open heart surgery.
