Kubuntu & PS2 Mouse

I tried Kubuntu on my T-21 Thinkpad and I really like it EXCEPT my mouse plugged into the PS2 port was inoperative [the IBM stick pointer did work - but I hate it].
I would install Kubuntu, if someone could tell me how to get the PS2 mouse working.

Modern kernels should have resolved the PS/2 issue unless used in a virtual machine (say, Linux on VmWare inside MS Windows). If this is the case, try booting off the live cd and see the PS/2 mouse works.
Otherwise a distro with short release cycles, such as Ubuntu, have probably addressed this already in modern releases. This has been addressed even in conservative distros such as Debian stable.

lightweight,
Thanks for response, my T-21 is a dual boot of Win98SE and various Linux distros with "mixed" results.
Some distros, the PS/2 mouse works and the wireless card doesn't. Others the card works and not the mouse.
Still trying to find the "right" distro.

Gave up on Kubuntu and reinstalled PClinuxOS 2007 [which I like better] and with mouse and wireless card working, I'm "happy as a clam !!!'.
