Fedora 7 on T60 with ATI

I know there's a ThinkWiki page on this topic, and I've started a thread on the linux-thinkpad list, but this forum is just much easier to follow, so...
I have a T60 running F7. It has the ATI X1400 GPU. I'd like to get 3D and suspend/resume working.
Suspend/resume works if I use the vesa driver, but suspend locks the machine if I use fglrx, as does hibernate. It has been suggested that I disable the vesa framebuffer, but I haven't been able to find information on how to do that. (And yes, I have tried.)
I'm happy to update thinkiwiki if I get a working solution.
