Is it possible to boot a thinkpad x60 via pcmia floppy drive

#1 Post by 3xkrazy » Sat Nov 10, 2007 4:30 am

I'm trying to install freebsd via a pcmia floppy drive I bought from ebay. I don't see the option in the bios. I don't know whether the drive I bought isn't working, or if it's not a supported booting device. Booting freebsd via usb-cdrom is not possible due to the btx loader bug.

So, is it possible to boot an os via pcmia floppy drive?

Sorry, not certain about the PCMCIA slot, though I wouldn't be surprised if it's not bootable.

However, the X60 can be booted from USB flash drives. Would this work for your purposes? Both Linux and Windows can be installed this way, so I gather FreeBSD should be possible too.
