IBM TrackPoint Driver - Installation Problem

#1 Post by nesen » Sun Nov 14, 2004 8:01 am

I recently stumbled across the IBM TrackPoint Driver for Linux, while browsing http://thinkwiki.org/ThinkWiki

Downloaded the thing, patched the kernel tree, began to build, and to my surprise it didn't work at all. I've got 2.6.10-rc1-mm2 and various others, and there's just no psmouse_command function which is needed for the TrackPoint driver.

I searched google a lot of times, with no results :(

Question: Does anyone know how to get the driver to work? I know it must be possible, since many people use it, but I really don't know what to do.

You may have already figured this out but here is what I used (t42 SuSE 9.1)

http://www.ces.clemson.edu/linux/synaptics.shtml

Good place to start.
T42 - SuSE 9.1 - 2.6.9 - 768 - 40 - 2200BG

The trackpoint driver is not the same as the synaptics touchpad driver. Nipple vs. that flat area. Kernel 2.6.9 + trackpoint driver works for me; /proc/tracpoint exists and I can charge the settings there.

You can have a look at my kernel rpm spec file at http://www.sas.upenn.edu/~vbraun/comput ... ernel.html
