Weather widget for Fedora 8?

I've been using Yahoo! Weather widget in Windows. I'm looking for a similar one to use on Fedora 8. I think Google Desktop Widgets might work but somehow I don't like to install the whole Google Desktop thing just to use a little widget. BTW the searching engine in Fedora 8 is also well done enough, thus I don't really need Google Desktop.

My favorite is Liquid Weather, which is a Superkaramba applet. I don't know if you are running Gnome or KDE on your Fedora system, but if KDE then just install Superkaramba and start loading up on widgets.

If you are using the Gnome desktop then installing SK may be a little more work.

How about the weather applet that F8 installs by default? Right-click on any empty space in the panel and "add applet". Very small and unobstrusive, but you can open it to get the weather forecast and doppler radar.

The typical traditional widget engine for GNOME is called gDesklets. It is still maintained, but many of the older applets are not. I happened to try an applet called GoodWeather and it still worked. I'd be surprised if gdesklets is not available in one of the main YUM repositories (like dag.wieers) on Fedora. The applet may or may not be included. If it is not, get it here -

Somehow I couldn't find "add applet" when right click on the desktop. Do you mean "desktop" by "in the panel"? Thanks

If you are running Firefox a nice weather add-on is 1-click weather. It uses space that is normally wasted.

No. Right-click the panel at the top of the screen. The panel contains the Fedora logo, menus for Applications, Places, System, the date and time and that kind of thing. Right-click an empty spot and select "Add to Panel".

A list of applets appears and one is called Weather Report. It gets its data from the Weather Channel's web site. You can set preferences for your location and display units.

For instance, right now in Saint Paul where I am, it's sunny and zero Farenheit.
